It is possible to use LLMs to help explore a concept for a book or other fictional work. This is an example of a book concept idea and the resulting plot outline.

The Prompt

In the role of a book author, provide an outline for the following story concept. The story would be split over several books each published on the same date every year. The story follows a young girl from age 11 to adulthood. She finds herself caught up in various plots to overthrow the government and uses her growing experiences from history classes at school to foil those plots. She will be helped by school friends, her parents and most importantly an AI LLM which is running on her laptop.

Our First Iteration

Here’s an outline for your story series, capturing her growth, escalating challenges, and evolving use of history and technology:

Book 1: The Beginning of Shadows

• Age 11: The protagonist, a curious and intellectually gifted girl, is gifted a laptop by her parents, unaware that it contains a unique AI LLM.
• School and History: She begins to excel in history classes, fascinated by past rebellions and governmental changes.
• The First Encounter: She inadvertently uncovers a small-scale scheme that would destabilize her local government and foils it with help from the AI, whom she names “Historian.”
• Lessons Learned: She learns the basics of government structure and conspiracy, setting the stage for more complex plots.

Book 2: Echoes of the Past

• Age 13: Now a bit more seasoned, she discovers that conspiracies go deeper than she imagined, learning of a group with plans to manipulate elections.
• School and Advanced History: Studying significant coups and revolutions, she starts drawing connections to current events, and with Historian’s help, uncovers patterns in modern-day tactics.
• Allies and Friendship: Her friends start getting involved, each contributing skills that complement her historical insights and the AI’s processing power.
• Climactic Success: Together, they thwart the election manipulation, realizing they’re becoming key players in protecting the system.

Book 3: Web of Lies

• Age 15: The protagonist faces a national threat, with plots to destabilize key institutions.
• Challenges: Teen life introduces personal stakes, and she grapples with balancing her role with a more normal teenage life.
• Historical Connections: They apply lessons from espionage in the Cold War, analyzing communication patterns and foiling a plot to control the media.
• Family Secrets: Her parents reveal they know more than they let on, explaining how the laptop with Historian reached her. They become more actively involved.

Book 4: The Growing Storm

• Age 17: With deeper, systemic threats looming, she discovers a network of powerful people trying to erode freedoms.
• Intensifying Relationships: The protagonist navigates friendships, budding romance, and her close-knit group’s commitment.
• New Allies in Unexpected Places: Teachers and other adults quietly provide support, hinting at a hidden organization working against the shadowy figures.
• Showdown: The climax brings them to the heart of a plot targeting national infrastructure, requiring intense, strategic collaboration between her, her friends, and Historian.

Book 5: The Last Stand

• Age 19: Now an adult, her journey culminates in a final battle to protect the country’s leadership from a direct takeover.
• Personal and Societal Growth: She’s matured, her knowledge of history and government systems now extensive, and she feels the weight of her actions.
• Ultimate Confrontation: Using everything learned from history and with Historian’s AI capacity at its peak, she leads her team in a tactical effort to prevent a hostile government coup.

This outline allows her journey to parallel significant historical lessons with growing personal stakes, expanding her understanding of power, responsibility, and the role of technology and relationships in shaping history. Each book builds on the last, reflecting her growth from a curious child to an empowered, educated adult.
